The Journey Begins

After almost two years of planning and months of preparing and packaging, the actual journey to Nicaragua began Friday night when we loaded up the bus with 38 hockey bags full of medicine, clothing and various other necessities.

Saturday began at 4:45 am when we gathered at the O.S.C.V.I. to say goodbye to our loved ones.

Three hours later we were ready to check in at Pearson International Airport.

After a five hour flight to San Salvador, we had a brief stopover and then boarded a much smaller prop plane for our final flight to Nicaragua.

The scenery during this flight was very impressive.

Finally, almost fifteen hours later, we arrived at our home base for the next 15 days, had a tour of the grounds, ate a delicious supper, had a team meeting and went to bed.
